50 Years of FLOS

FLOS celebrated its 50 year anniversary this year, marking this special occasion with the launch of an iPad app that serves as a digital archive of the company′s history.  The archive was prepared by Piera Gandini, wife of the late Chairman and founder of FLOS, Sergio Gandini.

The video shown here is one of the many pieces of FLOS history that is included in the app.  It features current FLOS CEO Piero Gandini and designer Philippe Starck, fondly chatting about their friendship and work, while riding through the streets of Paris.

Over 5,000 guests showed up at the launch party in Milan during Salone del Mobile in Milan to celebrate, including many designers who have worked with FLOS over the years, namely Philippe Starck (who makes a special appearance in the app), the Bouroullec brothers, Jasper Morrison, Marcel Wanders, Ron Gilad, Patricia Urquiola, and Tim Derhaag.

The Soho showroom in New York was the venue for the celebration during ICFF. Actual photographs and memorabilia featured in the app were also on display, educating guests on the vibrant history of FLOS and giving guests a chance to try out the new app.
